Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning both dry and wet messes in one session and without the need to switch between devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has plenty to offer for its relatively low cost and is one of the easiest robots we've tested to install. The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can is able to clean up a storm and also vacuums well. Its mops spin at high speeds and apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of dirt, pet hair and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
For instance, you can ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models cannot. The docking station has an LCD display that indicates the time when maintenance is required for cleaning up debris and cleaning the water tank that is dirty. It is also able to mix detergent into the tank in a controlled manner by using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode. The vacuum can run for 136 minutes in standard mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. The app is simple to use and intuitive that lets you see every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's flagship robot vacuum and mop is the most recent version. In contrast to the model of last year, this one features a double agitator in its mopping pad, which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that allows it to remove smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners could miss.
This Roborock model, like the other two I tested, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by having a dual camera that can recognize objects and determine whether they're a wall or another surface. It will then automatically alter its direction and clean them without missing a beat.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've examined, however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek and angular design is attractive and it has only three physical buttons: the power button, which also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank self-empties and the bin auto-refilling.
The only drawback I could find to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if it's required), it's a pain to remove the mount itself to wash manually. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot crosses will come into contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number clever features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these smart features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app also lets you to schedule cleanings, track the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops in order to allow voice control with this model which is a pity considering the performance of this model.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with its innovative features, top suction power and cutting-edge mowing capabilities. Its innovative design allows for customized and efficient cleaning while also saving time.
The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to feature 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful alternatives available. The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's among the most expensive on the market and comes with many extra features that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and has a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can remove pet hair and other small dirt particles - in addition to removing spills and wet spots.
The mop is cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used. This feature is great because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours that can build up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient.
